Essential Wet Trade Tools for Concretors

By June 11, 2020No Comments

In this post we aim to educate aspiring, and experienced, concretors on the most important and most utilised wet trade tools in the business today. At Vetner we have a reputation as a leader in the trade retail industry for our magnificent selection of trade tools.

Edgers

Using an edger allows you to create a smooth edge around the perimeter of your work surface, while also helping fight potential damage. One of the most important and standard tools in a concretor’s arsenal, these tools are a mainstay in any professional toolbox.

Groovers

Groovers are used to create indentations in wet work surfaces, such as cement, to create borders between different parts of the area in question. This allows you control the location of cracks, which can potentially arise when the slab inevitably contracts. It is recommended to be on the lookout for stainless steel groovers as they will give the best performance and will last you for longer.

Vetner has different groovers from all the major suppliers of wet trade tools, whatever your experience or skill level may be.

Floats

The all-important penultimate step in creating a consistent and perfect concrete surface is floating. The most popular choice amongst professional tradespeople is floats that have been constructed out of magnesium.

Magnesium floats have the benefit of being lightweight, allowing the user to easily glide over the surface with minimal exertion. Magnesium also has the property of opening up pores for proper evaporation while smoothing the surface.

Trowels

Troweling is a process that is completed in the final stages of finishing after the surface has been floated. One of the concretor’s most trusty weapons, a trowel is utilised to level and spread materials such as cement or plaster. The ideal trowel should be made of steel, be 3 to 5 inches wide and 10 to 20 inches long.

This final step of concrete finishing is the most difficult, and important, of the entire process and it is so crucial to have a style of trowel that you can trust. At Vetner we have a great range of different trowels for the discerning professional. Check out our range to discover versatile trowels that can be used for so many different purposes and jobs.
